A YELLOW Weather Warning for Wind for all of the borough is in place from 9am to 10pm, Tuesday, 9 December 2025.
An AMBER Weather Warning for Wind for the north of the borough is also in place from 2pm to 7pm, Tuesday, 9 December 2025.

Closures
Parks and Play Parks
ALL Council parks are closed on Tuesday 9 December 2025, and will reopen on Wednesday 10 December 2025 following safety checks.
These include:
- ALL play parks
- ALL Mugas and Pitches - excluding Ballymena Showgrounds
- Sentry Hill
- Memorial Park
- People's Park
- Ecos - it is advised to avoid this open space
- Bentra Golf Course
- Dixon Park
- Larne Town Park
- Shaftesbury Park - including Twinkle Trail
- Joymount Park
- Bracknamuckley Forest
- Carnfunnock Country Park walking paths
Any other sites remain open subject to ongoing assessment of weather conditions.
DAERA has also advised against visiting any of it's Forests or Parks during the warning period.

Harbours and Marinas
At present our Harbours and Marinas remain open but this may change depending on the health and safety of the site conditions.
Leisure Centres and Civic Buildings
At present our leisure centres and civic buildings remain open but this may change depending on the health and safety of the site conditions.
This also includes our Registrar Offices which remain open for scheduled appointments.
Cemeteries
Advised to avoid Council cemeteries during the weather warning period.
Community Centres
At present our community centres remain open but this may change depending on the health and safety of the site conditions.
