MEA Works

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, in partnership with Northern Regional College, are looking for local people to participate in intensive manufacturing training programmes, followed by a two-week placement in a local company.

There are 2 courses currently available:

Intro to Welding Programme

What are the benefits for you?

  • A chance to improve employability
  • Level 2 City and Guilds Award in Welding Skills
  • Access a range of personal development and training including interview skills, effective communication and teamwork

Work Placement

  • Undertake two-weeks on-site training and mentoring with a local company
  • Participants will be offered an interview with at least one of the participating companies.

Training & Applicant Criteria

  • Five-week intense training at Northern Regional College
  • Participants will be paid travel expenses covering their return journey from their place of residence to the college while in training
  • Participants may be eligible for assistance with childcare costs and support while in training (where appropriate and in line with any benefit provision)
  • All applicants must be at least 18 years old and based in Mid and East Antrim
  • All applicants must be currently eligible to work in the UK.

Production Operatives

What are the benefits for you?

  • A chance to improve employability
  • Comprehensive training in Manual Handling, Health and Safety, Reading and Interpreting drawings, Introductory Principles of LEAN Methodologies, Quality Control, Communication and Interview Skills
  • On-site work placement where you will receive further training and mentoring in a production operative role.
