Local Authority Individual or Team of the Year - Climate and Sustainability Manager, Dr. Elaine Smith at the UK Awards for Excellence, May 2022.
The Local Authority Individual or Team of the Year Award was given to the local authority officer Dr. Elaine Smith who has achieved a high level of success in driving up climate and sustainability awareness and action in local government’s agenda.
Elaine is a true champion of climate and sustainability-related activities in Mid and East Antrim and reports on achievements that are evident over time through the Council website.
Best Collaborative Working Initiative, Catherine Hunter (Environmental Education Officer) at the 2022 UK APSE Awards, September 2022.
This award category looked at how Councils collaborate with partnering organisations. Council showcased a number of waste and recycling initiatives, along with community planning and environmental health and parks and open spaces initiatives which demonstrated a team approach and delivering at scale to achieved shared outcomes.
Business in the Community NI Environmental Benchmarking Survey 2022
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council were recognised for green leadership in annual environmental survey report.
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council achieved Platinum Level in the 2022 Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey.
- The NI Environmental Benchmarking Survey is an annual event that scores organisations on the measures they take to improve their environmental impacts.
- Over 100 organisations from a range of different sectors measured and reported their environmental impacts.
Northern Ireland’s most sustainable organisations were revealed at an event to announce the results of the 2022 Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey, organised by responsible business network Business in the Community (BITC).
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council achieved Platinum Level in the Survey, which is used an important comparison tool and a helpful way for organisations to identify areas where they can improve their environmental impacts, as well as be recognised for their efforts to become more sustainable.
Over 100 organisations from a range of sectors including: General Manufacturing; Local Authority; Education; Utilities; Construction; ICT; and Food and Drink took part in the Survey in 2022.
