In light of the ongoing situation, we are all facing due to the coronavirus. It is an uncertain time of everyone and we appreciate businesses are faced with particularly challenging times ahead.
To that end please note the following which I trust you will find helpful in these unprecedented times.
Due to the closure of the Household recycling centres across the Borough as of 24 March following Government instruction. Customers will not be able to access sites for cardboard disposal. Although this will cause some inconvenience for your businesses you will appreciate we are operating in extreme times and safety of public and staff is paramount. We will continue to monitor the guidance of government and at the earliest opportunity advise you when normal access to this free service will resume. In the meantime, we suggest you retain the loose cardboard waste in a safe and secure area for future disposal.
Voluntary suspension of Trade Waste Collections
As a Council we are acutely aware of the financial challenges businesses will find themselves with. To ensure you do not accrue further unnecessary financial costs, if your businesses have recently closed/ or you are required to close in the near future, we would ask you contact us as soon as possible to suspend your collections. This will allow us to freeze your account and ensure our crews are deployed more efficiently during this difficult time.
How can I suspend my account?
Please contact us on
A member of our trade waste team will co-ordinate the temporary hold on your account. Please make sure you advise us of the last collection date you required. Active accounts have been paid up until 31 March 2020.
Still operating - Continuing with Trade Waste collections
We understand a number of businesses will continue to trade/ operate during this time and still require trade waste collections.
While we will continue to operate our trade schedules as normally as possible you may notice a change in collection times as crews and staff may need to rotate or alternate routes.
Any disruptions to service will be updated here:
To support your business during this challenging time our finance team are working to implement a payment holiday on the Quarter 1 (April – June 2020) payment which would be due week commencing 15 April.
We envisage this payment holiday will be for a period of 3 months with the remittance period extended from the normal 30 days to 90 days.
We trust this will help support your business to continue trading without the burden of advanced payment for trade waste collections.
