As a result of the latest NI Executive Health and Safety Committee review and the announcement of relaxations to current Covid-19 restrictions on 28 May 2020, the Building Control Department of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council plan to reintroduce limited outdoor on-site inspection of building work commencing 8 June 2020.
This is conditional on completion of a satisfactory property-specific dynamic risk assessment, the ‘R’ Value remaining below 1, and any subsequent statements to the contrary from NI Executive.
Initially, only the following inspections will be included in this process:
Foundation excavations: Foundation concrete: Hardcore/subfloor: DPCs and radon measures: Drainage pipework: Pumped cavity wall insulation: Externally sited replacement boilers: Structural elements visible from outside the footprint of the property: and, Other interim inspections where it is possible to carry out the inspection without entering the footprint of the building.
To facilitate this we respectfully request a minimum of 48hrs notice of inspection.
Where reasonably practicable, internal inspections and other inspections which are considered to present a risk to Building Control Staff will continue to be administered remotely using all possible communication methods available.
All other Building Control Functions continue to be delivered remotely.
