Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant Mrs Joan Christie presented with CVO by the Queen

The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim has paid tribute to Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for the County of Antrim after the Queen’s official representative was officially awarded the Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO).

Mrs Christie was joined by close family members at the prestigious ceremony, which took place recently.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Paul Reid, said: “Congratulations on behalf of everybody in our Borough and across County Antrim to Mrs Joan Christie CVO OBE, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for the County of Antrim.
“The Lord-Lieutenant for the County of Antrim is an incredible and devoted representative of Her Majesty the Queen.
“She continues to be a tireless ambassador and a champion of individuals, groups and organisations throughout our area, radiating warmth and kindness at every one of her many engagements.
“Like many, I was filled with pride at the award of the CVO to Mrs Christie, a much-deserved recipient of this award as a lady who sets the benchmark when it comes to public service.
“Just last month, the Freedom of our Borough was conferred on Mrs Christie - the highest honour and accolade a Council can award.
“In conferring the Freedom, we recognised Mrs Christie's outstanding contribution to the people of Mid and East Antrim, and Northern Ireland, through her remarkable public service.
“Mrs Christie is a truly inspirational individual and we offer our wholehearted congratulations on this latest award.”
When the CVO award was announced, Mrs Christie said: “I am humbled. The role of Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant is in itself a great honour. I am delighted to receive this honour.”
Mrs Joan Christie CVO OBE was appointed Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for the County of Antrim in September 2008, on the retirement of The Right Honourable Lord O’Neill TD JP.
