Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, through its Good Relations Programme invite you all to celebrate the diversity and culture of the Borough.  We have a packed programme and all events are aimed at making everyone in Mid and East Antrim feel welcome, safe, respected and celebrated.

This is free of charge.  Registration is required before first run on the parkrun website.
Please remember to print your barcode.

Come and join the Race to #embRACE with the Park Runs in Mid and East Antrim. Park Runs are open to people of all ages and abilities and we welcome everyone to take part. We encourage you to participate at your own pace.  Please come along and join in at:-

Come and hear stories and participate in crafts and learn about other cultures.  This event will focus on Chinese New Year and will help celebrate the diversity of the Borough of Mid and East Antrim.

Carrickfergus Town Hall Mid and East Antrim #embRACE Celebration (Flagship Event)

Come and join us as we #embRACE Celebration in Mid and East Antrim.  Come and enjoy music, song dance from around the world including and our very own Uplift Performing Arts.  Take part in the arts workshops on offer such as kite making, face painting and more all free of charge.

Monday 19 February  The Braid Museum  #embRACE Playful Museums Festival – Team Treasure Event

This event will work with an early years’ group as part of the Playful Museums Festival, by delivering activities in the museum which focus on promoting mutual understanding, cooperation and respect for others. This will involve nursery pupils from different cultural backgrounds, as well as well as those who do not speak English as their first language.

Whitehead Library #embRACE Children’s Storytime and Craft Event This event will be Indian themed and will help celebrate the diversity of the Borough of Mid and East Antrim.  Children will be invited to hear stories and participate in crafts and learn about the Indian culture.

Thursday 22 February 2018 Horizon Surestart, Carrickfergus #embRACE Diversity and Cultural Awareness

The Inter-Ethnic Forum for Mid and East Antrim will be facilitating a diversity workshop with Horizon Surestart, Carrickfergus as part of their “Time for Me” Programme.  This will promote the understanding of diversity and cultural awareness through Art.

The Shed, Market Yard, Larne Mid and East Antrim #embRACE The Far East Experience (Flagship Event)

This event will include music and dance performances from the Far East as well as a Costume Display.  There will be arts workshops and far eastern cuisine to sample, all free of charge.

Follow Coffee, Greenvale Street, Ballymena #embRACE Mid Town Sounds Come along to a Café gig to launch the music videos alongside performances from each of the videoed acts.

Saturday 24 February 

10.00am – 4.00pm

Ballymena Town Centre/Tower Centre/Fairhill Centre Mid and East Antrim #embRACE Chinese New Year (Flagship Event)

This event will celebrate Chinese New Year, the year of the dog and will include a parade led by the Chinese Dragon and Chinese Lion, through the Centre of Ballymena.  The Parade will leave the Bandstand Area at 11.00 am.  There will be free arts workshops including kite making in the Tower Centre and Fairhill Centre throughout the day.

  • 10am-4pm – Kite Making Workshop, Fairhill Centre
  • 11am CNY Parade (starting at former Bandstand/adj to Bob & Berts, Church Street)
  • 11am-2pm Chinese Craft Workshop, Tower Centre

Carrickfergus Museum #embRACE Castle Building Event This is a fun event for parents and toddlers as part of the Playful Museums Festival.  Children will have the opportunity to learn about history and culture in a fun interactive way through Castle Building.

Ballymena Town Centre #embRACE Mid Town Sounds

We have around 20 businesses in the town centre signed up to house a local musician for an hour on Saturday the 24th of February. Some businesses will be including offers etc. on the day.  Come along and enjoy.  Everyone welcome.
