#embRACE Week 2018

In February 2018, Mid and East Antrim Council, through its Good Relations Programme, launched its first ever #embRACE Week programme. This programme celebrated the diversity and culture of our Borough with a packed programme of events and activities aimed at making everyone in Mid and East Antrim fell welcome, safe, respected and celebrate.
#embRACE Week 2019 will take place from 16 February 2019 – 23 February 2019, and look out for further information about this on Council’s social media platforms!

Come and join us as we #embRACE Celebration in Mid and East Antrim. Come and enjoy music, song dance from around the world including and our very own Uplift Performing Arts. Monday 19 February | The Braid Museum | #embRACE Playful Museums Festival – Team Treasure Event |
This event will work with an early years’ group as part of the Playful Museums Festival, by delivering activities in the museum which focus on promoting mutual understanding, cooperation and respect for others. This will involve nursery pupils from different cultural backgrounds, as well as well as those who do not speak English as their first language. (Invitation Only) |

This event will include music and dance performances from the Far East as well as a Costume Display. There will be arts workshops and far eastern cuisine to sample, all free of charge. (This is a free event open to the public - Register your interest on Eventbrite). |

Ballymena Town Centre/Tower Centre/Fairhill Centre | Mid and East Antrim #embRACE Chinese New Year (Flagship Event) |
This event will celebrate Chinese New Year, the year of the dog and will include a parade led by the Chinese Dragon and Chinese Lion, through the Centre of Ballymena. The Parade will leave the Bandstand Area at 11.00 am. There will be free arts workshops including kite making in the Tower Centre and Fairhill Centre throughout the day.

Carrickfergus Museum | #embRACE Castle Building Event | This is a fun event for parents and toddlers as part of the Playful Museums Festival. Children will have the opportunity to learn about history and culture in a fun interactive way through Castle Building. |

We have around 20 businesses in the town centre signed up to house a local musician for an hour on Saturday the 24th of February. Some businesses will be including offers etc. on the day. Come along and enjoy. Everyone welcome. (This is a free event open to the public) |
