Holocaust Memorial Day 2018
As part of the Holocaust Memorial Day Programme for 2018, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, through its Good Relations programme, hosted two staged readings from Judgement at Nuremberg, a play by Abby Mann and performed by local amateur – dramatic group Ad Hoc Theatre Group.
The performances took place in the McNeill Theatre, Larne on Thursday 25 January 2018 and at the Studio Theatre in the Braid Arts Centre in Ballymena on Saturday, where audiences watched a moving and powerful performance by the excellent Ad Hoc Theatre Group.
Speaking after both performances, Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Cllr Paul Reid said “The Power of Words was the Holocaust Memorial Day theme for 2018 and words can make a difference. This play illustrated how The Nuremberg Trials were instrumental in leading to convictions of those found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity, through braveness and people speaking out against wrong. Both performances were powerful, and it was wonderful to see homegrown talent like the Ad Hoc Theatre Group demonstrate such great community vision and involvement. I thank Ad Hoc for bringing this important story to Mid and East Antrim.”
This programme was supported by The Executive Office through Mid and East Antrim Borough Councils Good Relations Programme.
