Community Benefits

Sport, particularly football within Mid and East Antrim, plays a key role in ensuring active healthy lifestyles and community participation and engagement.

The enhancements to the showgrounds facilities will bring them up to a higher standard in line with UEFA category 3 Stadia, allowing a greater ability to host a range of international level competition as well as build on existing hubs which will increase and enhance community participation and involvement across academy and youth teams through to senior men’s and women’s club and international football.

The MEA United’s Vision not only benefits local football and our community but also offers huge potential for the future of football right across Northern Ireland following the three main strategies of the Irish FA Five Year Plan 2017-2022, Sport NI Corporate Plan and the Irish FA Youth Strategy 2105-2025 which set out the regional vision to which MEA United aligns with and can benefit long term.
