Covid-19 Advice & Guidance

Council will act responsibly in line with government advice.  At present this means there should ONLY be essential travel.  This does not include visits to second homes or similar, whether for isolation purposes or holidays.  Unfortunately, this also includes leisure boating.

At this time we must ask our customers to keep away from our marinas, boatyard and coastal facilities until the situation improves.  We appreciate this very frustrating for you all, especially as the boating season is upon us.  We hope that by all of us acting responsibility and following the government guidance we can reduce the spread of this highly infectious disease so that we can all get back to our boats as soon as possible.

We have implemented the following steps:

• Customers and boat users should not be visiting our marinas, boatyard or other coastal facilities, but should be following government advice and avoiding all non-essential travel, including visiting their boat.
• We have closed our Marina receptions. Most of our office-based staff are now working remotely, so please do pick up the phone or email as you normally would. They will do their best to answer any questions or enquiries you may have about berthing, boatcare or the operation of the Marina. You can continue to make payments in all the usual ways.
• We are respectfully asking customers not to “quarantine” or “isolate” themselves on their boats. You should remain in your primary residence.

There have been many queries from our customers regarding payment of their berthing fees.  At present you should continue to pay your berthing fees as normal.  It is impossible to gauge the length of any restrictions that are in place at present or may in the future be imposed. Council will keep the situation under regular review and at the end of June any amelioration of fees will be communicated to all berth holders following consideration by Council.

Rest assured, all our main marinas and harbours will have staff presence at some stage throughout the day 7 days per week, with Carrickfergus retaining its 24/7 cover. We are moving to an “essential worker” only basis, with an experienced and efficient team who are busy each day checking lines and fenders and making sure that your boats remain safe and sound.
