Bins and Kerbie Boxes Explained

Food Caddy

A new collection service for food!

We have introduced a new Food Waste Collection service for 2,000 household in Ballymena and 500 in Larne. This means that along with all the dry recycling you have been presenting for collection, you are also be able to recycle leftovers, peelings and other food wastes in a new kerbside caddy on a weekly basis.

Photograph of a food caddie with food insideTo make this easier for you we are supplying you with a 5 litre kitchen caddy which you can keep in your kitchen to collect food waste items before putting them in your kerbside caddy for collection.

You are also being provided with a supply of biodegradable bags which can fit your kitchen caddy*. When this supply is finished you will be able to obtain additional bags from your nearby recycling centre. Alternatively, you may also line your caddy with newspaper as this will also biodegrade after collection.

The scheme, which has been supported by Recycle Now, will help householders who want to lower the volume of food waste they generate.

*Please note: Normal plastic bags will not be accepted.

For details on what can and can't be included please download the Food Waste Collection leaflet.
