Dunfane Development Masterplan

We have been given an opportunity to work in partnership with St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s schools to develop a floodlit, all-weather (3G) sports pitch on the current St Patrick’s High School pitch site. Planning Permission for this facility was obtained in September 2017.
How would this new pitch be funded?
The Department for Communities has offered Council £300,000 to deliver this project. We would then be required to contribute a further £300,000 which had originally been allocated to refurbish Dunfane’s changing pavilion.
Who could use the facility?
Should the project go ahead at St Patrick’s High School, the school would have use of the facility during school hours with Council managing the facility at all other times. The changing accommodation within St Patrick’s High School would also be available for use.
How would this benefit the area?
As well as benefitting from a new 3G all-weather pitch, Council would be able to proceed with a Masterplan for the current Dunfane Playing Fields.
How can I comment on the proposals?
A concept plan is attached and your views on these proposals are being sought. A proportion of the money generated from any potential housing development would be reinvested in the Dunfane area to put in place enhanced children play facilities, an all-weather multi-sports pitch and an outdoor gym, along with upgrading a network of paths linking, for example, Dunfane Crescent to Hugomont.
If we proceed with this initiative the external funding must be spent by March 2019 and therefore your thoughts and views on this way forward are urgently sought.
