A swashbuckling summer adventure across Mid and East Antrim
Monday 20 July 2026
The award-winning outdoor theatre company ‘Illyria’ is set to visit Carrickfergus and Ballymena with an exciting production of The Three Musketeers this summer.
Against a sweeping panorama of 17th century France at war, this production is a whirlwind of excitement, broad comedy and ingenious storytelling. Romance, swashbuckling, intrigue, murder, betrayal, revenge… Alexandre Dumas’s classic has the lot!
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Thomas Gordon said, “Our parks and open spaces are in the hearts of our communities. It is fantastic that residents, family and friends have the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor performance of The Three Musketeers. I would encourage you to secure a ticket, decide on what treats to bring along and enjoy the engaging classic tale.”
The show takes place at Shaftesbury Park, Carrickfergus on Wednesday 19 August and People’s Park, Ballymena on Thursday 20 August, whatever the weather. Gates will open to ticketholders at 6pm with live music to entertain the crowd before the show begins at 7pm.
“At its best, theatre is shared storytelling. And to experience this in the open air is uniquely special.” says Artistic Director Oliver Gray.
“Outdoors, with good company and good food is a much less formal way to enjoy theatre,” Oliver continues. “And there’s something truly unifying about actors performing, and audiences listening, all under the same sky.”
Audience members are encouraged to bring along a picnic and their own seating such as blankets or low backed chairs to enjoy this relaxed outdoor performance.
