Get creative at Larne Arts Festival this August!

Thursday 20 July 2023

Mid and East Antrim will enjoy an abundance of arts this August as the Borough prepares to celebrate its wonderful local talent at the annual Larne Arts Festival!

Organised by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, the action-packed festival will take place throughout the month of August with a host of creative events sure to entertain all.

Council has teamed up with local artists, musicians, arts groups and storytellers to create a special programme of activities showcasing the myriad of talent from across the Borough and giving members of the public a chance to learn new skills - and try out exciting activities across all art forms.

There will be over 40 workshops, exhibitions, tours, talks and events for everyone to choose from. Highlights include comic book workshops with Kev F Sutherland who writes and draws for the Beano, Doctor Who and Marvel comics; writing workshops with journalist and BBC producer David O’Doran plus DDMIX dance workshops.

There will also be a free family fun day on Saturday 12 August at Larne Market Yard - displaying the very best of Larne’s arts scene. It will be a celebration of all the artistic, literary, dramatic and performance talent found in Mid and East Antrim. With ‘come and try it’ art sessions, live music, performances and family fun entertainment – it’s a day out not to be missed!

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Gerardine Mulvenna, said: “Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is delighted to collaborate with local artists, musicians and performers from the creative industries to produce such an exciting arts festival. We are delighted to have such a vibrant arts and culture service which really does provide something for everyone to enjoy.

“Council is committed to supporting art of all forms for our citizens and we hope people from right across the Borough and beyond will enjoy what’s on offer.”
