Living Windows light up town landmarks with local faces!

Friday 25 November 2022

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and the c21 Theatre Company are delighted to be collaborating in a unique community arts project that will see local windows come to life in the towns of Ballymena, Carrick and Larne over three weekends in January 2023!

The Covid-19 Revitalise Recovery Scheme was established to help our Town Centres recover from the pandemic and this project will provide something different to attract visitors to the Town Centres of the Borough.

‘Living Windows’ follows on from the highly successful ‘Scenes from the Street’ - a Lockdown Zoom project that was rolled out by the same creatives across all three towns in 2021.

In preparation for the showcase, c21’s Film Maker - with the help of local media students - will host a series of green screen sessions, where members of the public are invited to come along and record a short film piece to be used in the exhibition.

The green screen sessions will take place week commencing 5th December 2022 in the following pop-up shops:

  • 5 December – 11am to 5pm Tower Centre, Ballymena
  • 6 December – 11am to 5pm Tower Centre, Ballymena
  • 7 December – 10am to 4pm Main Street, Larne
  • 8 December – 12pm to 7pm Main Street, Larne
  • 9 December – 10am – 4pm DeCourcy Centre, Carrickfergus
  • 10 December - 10am – 4pm DeCourcy Centre, Carrickfergus

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman Noel Williams, said: “I am delighted that Council is supporting this exciting project in conjunction with c21 Theatre Company and other partners. These videos will light up our streets and showcase the wonderful people of our Borough. We hope to involve as many people as possible in this project and I would urge you all to come along to one of our pop-up shops this December to find out more.”

Looking forward to the rollout of the project, C21 Artistic Director, Stephen Kelly, commented: ‘We are very excited about the Living Windows project and delighted to be working again with Wildbird Media and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.  A cutting-edge project like this is just what people deserve after what we have been through over the last couple of years.”

Anyone interested in being part of this unique living arts project is welcome to call into the green screen sessions in each of the town centres.
