Uplift Performing Arts Presents ‘Our Spectrum Story’, a New Autism-Led Theatre Production

Wednesday 25 February 2026

Uplift Performing Arts is proud to present ‘Our Spectrum Story’, a powerful new theatre production written by Ryan Moffett (Uplift Director), and Conor Kemp.

Our Spectrum Story

Created in collaboration with autistic individuals, this production offers an honest and deeply personal insight into what it is like to live with autism. With lived experiences at its heart, the cast uses performance as a platform for understanding, connection, and authentic storytelling.

Developed directly with people with autism, ‘Our Spectrum Story’ brings together individual voices and real-life experiences, sharing personal perspectives through theatre, movement, and creative expression. The production explores the realities of daily life, identity, belonging, while challenging common misconceptions and celebrating neurodiversity.

Uplift Performing Arts was unable to secure its two performances at the McNeill Theatre within the Mid and East Antrim Borough so residents can enjoy them nearby at The Courtyard Theatre, 12 and 13 March 2026 at 7.30pm, and are open to all ages and the general public.

Speaking about the project, Director Ryan Moffett from Uplift Performing Arts said " This project is about creating space — space for autistic people to tell their own stories in their own way. ‘Our Spectrum Story’ is honest, humorous, brave, and deeply human. We hope audiences leave with a greater understanding of autism, but more importantly, with a sense of connection.”

This production has been funded by Clanmil Housing, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, and the Northern Trust. Please see a quote from each funder:

Austin Kelly, Community Investment Officer at Clanmil Housing said "Clanmil is proud to support Our Spectrum Story, a project that places lived experience, creativity and inclusion at its heart. We believe the arts have a powerful role to play in bringing people together, building empathy, and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and heard. This production reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting activities that make a real and lasting difference in the lives of people living in the communities we work in.”

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Jackson Minford, said "Our Spectrum Story is a powerful example of how the arts can bring communities together while amplifying voices that deserve to be heard. The Council is delighted to support Uplift Performing Arts in delivering a production that showcases local talent and deepens awareness and understanding of autism."

Jayne Colville, the Northern Trust’s Public Health Autism Coordinator added "The Northern Trust is delighted to support “Our Spectrum Story”, a production that uses drama and the arts to convey a truly meaningful narrative. This performance shines a spotlight on local autistic individuals, giving them the opportunity to share their experiences and to showcase their talent and creativity. It also offers audiences a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of autism.”

This press release is accompanied by an exemplary illustration created by local graphic artist, Joel Ferguson. The artwork captures the individuality, imagination, and sense of community that run through the heart of the show. Like the performance itself, it is not an interpretation from the outside, but a story told from within — reflecting Uplift Performing Arts’ commitment to ensuring autistic voices are seen, heard, and celebrated at every stage of the project. The artwork is available for use by press and media outlets in coverage of the production.

Music and Sound Design for this production has been created by Neve Hutchinson (ENNE).

Uplift Performing Arts is committed to inclusive, community-led work that empowers participants and uses the arts as a tool for social change. ‘Our Spectrum Story’ stands as a testament to the impact of collaboration, creativity, and listening to lived experience.
