Workspace Development Programme Privacy Notice
This privacy notice shall detail how the Economic Development team within Mid and East Antrim Borough Council will look after your personal information when you apply for funding on behalf of your organisation under The Workspace Development Programme.
This is funded by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and The Department for the Economy’s Regional Balance Fund.
The Workspace Development Programme is managed by the Mid and East Antrim Local Economic Partnership (LEP) - a locally led initiative designed to drive economic growth, improve productivity, and address regional imbalances across the region.
The Workspace Development Programme aims to address the shortage of affordable, high-quality workspace and enterprise space for local businesses, startups, and independent professionals across the borough.
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is a registered Data Controller with the Information Commissioner.

What Information We Collect
- Your title and full name
- Your telephone number(s)
- Your business address and the subject property address
- Your email address
- Your website address
- Your VAT registration number (if applicable)
- Your HMRC Registration Details
- Your Company Registration Details
- Your insurance details
- Your statutory consents (e.g. planning, building control etc.)
- Your invoices for verification of expenditure incurred
- Your bank statements to show proof of expenditure incurred
Why We Collect Your Information
All of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you within your application form or contained within other supporting documentation which may be required as part of the grant application and assessment process.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- To contact you during the application process for the Workspace Development Programme.
- To carry out eligibility and assessment checks under the Workspace Development Programme.
- If your application is successful, to enter into a contract in the form of a Letter of Offer, where the information provided is necessary for that contractual arrangement.
- For reporting and evaluation purposes at the end of the Workspace Development Programme.
Under Article 6 of the UK GDPR, the lawful basis we rely on is:
- Article 6 (1) (b) – Contract: We process your information where it is necessary to take steps prior to entering a contract or to perform a contract with you.
There is no statutory obligation to provide your personal data for this programme.
However, if you do not provide the required information, we will be unable to process your application or enter into a Letter of Offer with you.
Council will not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling
How We Store Your Personal Information
Your information will be securely stored on Council’s electronic systems and/or securely on Council premises.
Council will manage your personal data in line with its Records Management Policy and accompanying Retention and Disposal Schedule.
Sharing your Information
We may share your information with internal Council departments such as:
- Planning and/or Building Control in order to confirm statutory approvals
- Legal in order to check terms and conditions of Letters of Offer
- Capital in order to assist with technical aspects of applications for capital infrastructure
- Procurement in order to advise and assist with any quote/tender submissions.
We may share your information with the following third parties:
- The Department for Economy (DfE) where necessary, to help us with validation of funding applications and reporting purposes.
DfE are a joint funder along with Council under the Workspace Development Programme, managed by the Mid and East Antrim Local Economic Partnership (LEP) - Where sharing is necessary, Council will have data sharing agreements in place with relevant third parties to ensure compliance with data protection obligations.
- We will not disclose your personal information to any other organisation unless required by law.
- Council do not transfer your personal data outside the EU.
Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access - You can request copies of the personal information we hold about you (known as a Subject Access Request or SAR). To make a SAR, please contact us at dpo@midandeastantrim.gov.uk.
- Right to Rectification - You can ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate or complete information you believe is incomplete.
- Right to Erasure - You can request that we delete your personal information.
- Right to Restrict Processing - You can ask us to limit how we use your personal information
- Right to Object - You can object to the processing of your personal information.
- Right to Data Portability - You can request that we transfer the personal information you provided to another organisation or to you.
- Right to Withdraw Consent - Where we rely on your consent to process your data, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
If you make a request, we will respond within one month.
You do not have to pay a fee to exercise your rights.
These rights may be subject to certain limitations and exceptions.
