Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023 is a global celebration of entrepreneurship and this year takes place from Monday 13 to  Sunday 19 November 2023.

We have brought together diverse programme of events and activities aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, encouraging new start-ups, inspiring our business base and supporting sustainability and innovation of our SMEs.

Rural Support Drop-In Clinic

10am – 2pm

St Mary’s Parish Hall, Lisnamanny Road, Glenravel, BT43 6QH

Mid and East Antrim’s Labour Market Partnership are hosting a Rural Support Drop-In Clinic to help provide support and guidance to those in rural areas across Mid and East Antrim.

Come along to this free event where support organisations will provide money saving-tips, employability support, advice on various Employment Academies, business start-up support and signposting to health & wellbeing support.

Action Cancer will be providing free health checks and advice tailored specifically to attendees via a pre-booked service

Young Enterprise Primary Challenge Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023

Following previous year’s successful challenge competition, which was promoted to all primary schools in the Borough, Young Enterprise Northern Ireland (YENI) have brought another exciting competition this autumn with winners to be announced during GEW.  The competition will target Primary 6 pupils and introduce them to key business concepts such as creative problem solving, marketing and communications via a fun challenge to design a carton for a new juice brand.  The winner will receive a £50 voucher and four runners up will each receive £25.

National Launch of the new NI Enterprise Support Service

This year witnesses an exciting new NI Enterprise Support Service which will be launched across Northern Ireland during Global Enterprise Week. This new service which replaces Go For It and council led business support programmes, aims to put in place an ambitious approach to the delivery of start-up and growth support, revamping the current offering and increasing the number, survival, and growth rates of new businesses across the region. The service will provide a set of connected Enterprise Support Services where individuals, entrepreneurs or businesses can access a continuum of support to meet their needs, aligned with the relevant stage of their business.

Spark Celebration Event

In September 2021 we l launched SPARK, an exciting programme offering specialist mentoring support to early-stage businesses, tailored to the individual client needs. 

Over the past two years, Spark has assisted over 170 businesses, providing over 1100 hours of support representing an investment of £60,000. 

Spark will be superseded in the autumn by a new NI Enterprise Support Service.  In celebration of the remarkable achievements of MEA's budding entrepreneurs, this event will encourage networking, collaboration and celebrate the success of all participants of the Spark programme.

Menopause Awareness

Enterprising Women

Menopause has been a hot topic in recent months but there is still stigma surrounding this stage of a woman’s life. Siobhan Kearney has recently founded Menopause NI to generate awareness and education, supporting women to understand the impact of menopause.

This is a phase of life every woman goes through, yet its stages and symptoms are often misunderstood. By the end of the session, you will know the stages, symptoms, its impact on our physical, emotional and mental health and the support available to manage the menopause.

What’s Your Flavour Competition Winner Announcement

To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023, we asked P4 & P5 pupils to design a new flavour of ice-cream and marketing poster to promote this fantastic new product.  Two winning pupils and their classmates will be able to visit the ice-cream parlour to taste their product and find out more about running an ice-cream business.
