Global Entrepreneurship Week takes place between Monday 14 - Sunday 20 November 2022.
We have brought together diverse programme of events and activities aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, encouraging new start-ups, inspiring our business base and supporting sustainability and innovation of our SMEs.
Pop Up Shops
The Pop Up Shop initiative allows entrepreneurs from across the borough to test-trade for the first time within retail premises.
Pop Up Shops in Carrickfergus, Larne and Ballymena will be open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
Pop along and see if you can find that unique gift for someone special.

Boss Baby Sessions
Structured role play sessions at Emily’s Playroom Larne and Honeybees Playtown, Ballymena for nursery school groups focusing on being your own boss and future careers.

To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week 2022 Mid and East Antrim Borough Council asked P4 & P5 pupils to design a new flavour of ice cream and a marketing poster to promote this fantastic new product.

Building your Brand Awareness on Social Media

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2022, you are invited to take part in this exciting in-person workshop.
This is the second workshop in the Export Mid and East Antrim Workshop Series and is designed to help businesses in the Mid and East Antrim area that are interested to move into new export markets outside Northern Ireland either as existing exporters or new to exporting.
This workshop will help businesses to:
Guest Speaker - Declan Murtagh, Digital Consultant with Brilliant Red
Declan Murtagh is a social media specialist and speaker with over 10 years of experience across a range of industry sectors.
Declan has an extensive social media background having delivered campaigns both client-side in senior marketing roles and agency-side in account management and project-based roles. During the workshop, he will share his social media expertise and focus on how businesses can expand their customer base using the various social media platforms available.
Businesses will also have the opportunity to book a one-to-one confidential meeting with Declan at a mutually convenient time following the webinar

40+ Fresh Start Programme: New Beginnings after 40
Following last year’s successful ‘Fresh Start’ Programme, this event is the inaugural workshop delivered both in person and online for the new ‘40+ Fresh Start’ programme delivered by LEDCOM.
This programme provides support to people aged 40+ who want to explore the opportunities available to them through entrepreneurship/self-employment.

Meet the Labour Relations Agency and Q&A

Coinciding with ‘Biodiversity Day’ as part of COP27, this online event will host a range of key speakers who will deliver talks on local farming, carbon sequestering as well as the added benefits to biodiversity from more sustainable farming practices.

In this ‘live chat’ show event, host Cate Conway talks to one of Northern Ireland’s leading business mentors, Phil Graham, to help would-be business owners to develop and entrepreneurial mind-set.

Innovators: Historical Entrepreneurs in the Borough
Hosted by Carrickfergus Museum, this live in-person talk by David Hume will explore the enterprises of a number of individuals from Mid and East Antrim who had a major impact in their time and also for the future.

Enterprising Women Coffee Morning

An opportunity to women to network and meet likeminded entrepreneurs. Enterprising Women is a dedicated female network in Mid and East Antrim that supports new and established female entrepreneurs.
We want to help you to connect, grow in confidence, develop your networks and collaborate with like-minded women just like you.
This event is designed to allow you to network over a cuppa in an informal and welcoming environment.

Choosing the right social media platforms for your business
Join leading social media expert, Rebecca Mackay, for an introduction to key social media platforms in 2022, focusing on which platforms are relevant to tourism businesses; best practice and key features; how to generate content ideas; and the key tools available to drive optimum engagement. Specifically, it will cover;
Rebecca will share her knowledge and experience, and answer your questions throughout the session.

Speed Networking - ‘Build your Network, Grow Your Business'

The most well-connected people tend to be the most successful; however, many people find the thought of networking intimidating. This event will provide a welcoming and comfortable environment to put you at ease and help you make as many valuable business connections as possible.
Facilitator Kelli McRoberts has provided advice and support to small businesses for the past 26 years, in addition to managing Carrickfergus Enterprise, Kelli is a facilitator for the Coastal Route Tourism Cluster and project lead for Mid and East Antrim Enterprising Women. She will bring her experience and tips for networking to help you to develop and grow your connections and ultimately your business.
Following registration, the facilitator will follow up to gain further information from you to help maximise your networking experience on the evening. Attendees will be issued with a list of registrations (GDPR permission sought) and networking template.

Young Enterprise Primary Challenge Global Entrepreneurship Week 2022
Following last year’s successful challenge competition, which was promoted to all primary schools in the Borough and received 120 entries, Young Enterprise Northern Ireland (YENI) has brought another exciting competition this autumn with winners to be announced during GEW.
The competition will target Primary 6 pupils and introduce them to key business concepts such as creative problem-solving, marketing and communications via a fun challenge to design a carton for a new juice brand.
The winner will receive a £50 voucher and four runners-up will each receive £25.
Schools will receive worksheets and gain access to online resources, providing teachers with the flexibility to decide when to deliver the activities.
