    Mid and East Antrim Borough Council wishes to appoint an experienced Caterer for the Catering Agreement at Eden Community Centre based within the premises. There may be opportunity for facility hirers to make catering requests for events/ functions held within the centre.

    Eden Community Centre opened in 2013 and is a £1.5 million pound multi- functional, state of the art facility situated off the Beltoy Road, near to the village of Eden. The area is surrounded by the Beltoy Pitches and the Allotments which currently have 189 holders. The centre is an excellent venue that hosts a large number of groups hiring the rooms for various activities on a daily basis ranging from sports, dance, education, playgroups, large events, dog shows, functions and meetings throughout the day and evening & weekend.

    This highly attractive venue hosts an average footfall of approximately 30,000 per annum. The cafe foyer area is spacious and inviting with a mixture of modern soft sofa style seating, coffee tables, high coffee tables and chairs and larger round tables for eating for up to 40 people indoors and 10 outside.

    The area has free Wi-Fi for all visitors: there is free car parking and disability access. This would be a great opportunity for anyone wishing to provide a much-needed heart to a centre that is busy and vibrant.

    Mid and East Antrim Borough Council wishes to appoint an experienced Caterer for the Catering Agreement at Oakfield Community Development Centre based within the premises. There may be opportunity for facility hirers to make catering requests for events/ functions held within the centre.

    Oakfield Community Development Centre opened in 1998 and is a £1 million pound multi- functional state of the art facility situated in the heart of the Glenfield Community and adjacent to the Oakfield Primary School. This is a highly attractive venue that is open 7 days a week, hosting an average footfall of approximately 40,000 per annum. The area is surrounded by the beautiful Bashford Woodland, which is very popular with walkers all year around as well as various estates, churches, schools and small businesses within walking distance. The centre is an excellent venue that hosts a large number of groups who hire the rooms for various activities on a daily basis ranging from sports, dance, education, playgroups, large events, dog shows, functions and meetings throughout the day and evening & weekend.     The Oasis Café is located within the popular Seven Towers Leisure Centre.

    The Leisure Centre is situated in the heart of Ballymena just 5 minutes’ walk from the town Center and offers it 250,000 customers a year a wide range of activities.

    The Leisure Centre’s unique mix of fun pools and slides provide excitement and fun for children, while the Leisure Centres 25 meter x 6 lane main pool and a 20 metre learner pool offer and state of the art fitness facilities provide the ideal venue for those wanting to get fitter and healthier.

    The Centre also has a sauna, steam room and spa pool and one of the largest main halls available in a local authority Leisure facility. The hall has been the venue for major concerts and other events.

    Children's birthday parties are also popular within the Leisure Centre with the majority of users making use of the extensive café facilities for refreshments and party catering.

    Current Occupancy

    The Leisure Centre operates throughout the year, with peak periods throughout the Summer months, with children’s schemes, and fitness classes throughout the year. Almost 50 staff are employed within the Leisure Centre on varying shifts.

    Council are seeking to work in this new venture with a professional Caterer to provide services within the building and continue to develop, hours of service and product offering to increase the catering demands of the facility.

    Mid and East Antrim Borough Council through its Parks and Open Spaces Team have been granted Peace IV funding under the theme of Shared Spaces and Services to deliver an Urban Beach in People’s Park, Ballymena. The existing space will be developed and managed in a manner that respects rights, equality and diversity for all.  It is envisaged that residents’ attitudes/opinions can be widened and relations improved through the development of an urban beach in this programme to improve a carefully chosen selection of our local parks and open spaces.

    Council will engage in a tender process to employ a suitable organisation or individual to deliver this project.
     

  • T234/Ad Redevelopment of Play Area at People’s Park

    External Works at Grange, Cloney, Hillstown, Cullybackey and Glenravel

    The works comprise external works at five villages in the Ballymena area, Grange, Cloney, Hillstown, Cullybackey and Glenravel.

    At Grange, a small community garden is to be constructed on a small area of existing open space at the entrance to Moorland housing area. Here the works include site clearance, earthworks, concrete block paving), street furniture provision and tree and shrub planting works.

    At Cloney, environmental improvements to the road and car park frontage are planned. Works include new mild steel fencing and tree and shrub planting.

    At Hillstown, the project is the construction of a bus pull in space adjacent to the Whitesides Road. Here the works include the excavation and removal of a section of the existing road verge, kerbing, bitmac and asphalt surfacing works, thermoplastic line markings and provision of signage.

    At Cullybackey, an area of outdoor fitness equipment is to be provided off the existing riverside path between Cullybackey and Galgorm Manor. This will involve site excavation and disposal, steel edging, supply and installation of a co-ordinated range of outdoor fitness equipment, wet pour safety surfacing and timber fencing. Elsewhere a General Information sign, 4 Interpretation Panels, 5 Nr. Finger Posts and 6 Nr. Tree plaques are to be provided at various locations along the riverside walk. These are all be to be timber and part of a co-ordinated range of street furniture.

    At Glenravel, a new section of Greenway (an off-road footpath) is to be constructed. This project is by far the largest of the five village projects within the tender. The greenway will commence at Glenravel Chapel and end at Con Magee’s GAC car park, a distance of approximately 2.5Km. Works include site clearance, felling of trees, provision of stone filled gabion baskets, drainage works including culverts, a 3m wide hardcore and basalt blinded footpath, timber edging and concrete kerbing, asphalt surfacing, tree and shrub planting, grassing reinstatement.
