Notices of Proposed Special Events

Local Councils have been given new powers to close roads or restrict traffic to allow certain events to take place. These might include sporting events such as a Fun Run or Marathon, social events including Street Parties or other forms of entertainment eg concerts held on a public road.

The following notices are issued under the Road Traffic Regulation (NI) Order 1997.

Persons wishing to make representations to the Council regarding proposals may do so, in writing, to the address below.  Please note the closing date and time for representations on each notice. Representations received after the date will not be considered.

Notice Representation arrangements

The Public Protection, Health and Wellbeing Dept of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has received an application from ‘Normal People Ltd’ (motion picture productions) wishing to undertake filming on Old Shore Road, Greenisland on Wednesday 8 August and Thursday 9 August 2018.

By virtue of the powers conferred on it by Article 8A of and Schedule 3A to the Road Traffic Regulation (NI) Order 1997, the Council gives notice that it is minded to make an Order to temporarily prohibit traffic from using Old Shore Road, Greenisland from its junction with A2 Shore Road to its junction with A2 Belfast Road on Wednesday 8 August and Thursday 9 August 2018 between the hours of 8am and 8pm.

A diversion route will be signposted via A2 Belfast Road and A2 Shore Road.

Arrangements can be made to inspect the application, free of charge, at the Council Offices in Carrickfergus, 11 Antrim St, Carrickfergus by contacting Council on T: 0300 124 5000.

Persons wishing to make representations to the Council regarding the proposal may do so, in writing, to the Public Protection, Health and Wellbeing Department address noted above by 5 pm on Wednesday 11 July 2018.

Representations received after this date will not be considered.
