£1 Million refurbishment underway at the Amphitheatre for a Spa-tacular upgrade

The Amphitheatre in Carrickfergus is set to benefit from a significant £1 million investment with the refurbishment of its Spa area, reinforcing the venue’s long-term commitment to providing high‑quality leisure and wellbeing facilities for the local community.
The Spa area has now closed to the public to allow essential works to commence on the major upgrade, which will deliver a modern, revitalised space designed to enhance relaxation, wellbeing and the overall visitor experience.
Once completed, the new spa will offer a range of upgraded facilities including a luxurious spa pool, sauna, steam room, solarium, contemporary rain showers and an invigorating plunge pool.
Welcoming the beginning of the works, Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Jackson Minford, said: “The refurbishment of the Spa forms part of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s wider programme of investment aimed at ensuring Carrickfergus Amphitheatre continues to meet the evolving needs and expectations of users.
“The investment will complement the highly successful Fitness Suite which was installed in 2023 and has proven popular with members and visitors alike.
“That facility introduced state‑of‑the‑art fitness equipment, helping to significantly enhance the centre’s health and fitness offering.
“The upgraded spa facilities have been carefully designed to provide a welcoming, modern and inclusive environment that appeals to a wide range of users, from those seeking relaxation and recovery to fitness enthusiasts looking to support their training and wellbeing.
“The new design will also improve the flow and functionality of the space, ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for all.”
Works to the Spa area are progressing as planned, with completion scheduled for June 2026.
