Meeting loneliness together during Loneliness Awareness Week
Thursday 19 June 2025
Mid and East Antrim Loneliness Network marked this year’s Loneliness Awareness Week by hosting free events in local libraries across the Borough.

Each event included a guided walk, a live musical performance and an art workshop. In addition, local people had the chance to meet with their local Connect North Link Worker to secure information from local community organisations who help with loneliness and take part in the new Libraries NI Kindness Postboxes.
Loneliness Awareness Week (9-15June) is a week dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness. It’s all about creating supportive communities by having open, honest conversations and everyone can get involved.
Hosted by Marmalade Trust, a leading loneliness charity for all ages, this year will be the ninth Loneliness Awareness Week.
The events aimed to tackle loneliness and reduce isolation by creating opportunities to talk and interact.
Mid and East Antrim Loneliness Network launched in December 2019 and is made up of a range of community voluntary and statutory organisations who all work together to prevent and address loneliness. The Network has a year-long action plan for 2024/25 which includes a maintenance programme of Chatty benches and a social media campaign for 2025.
