Mid and East Antrim tees up for inaugural NI Legends tour event

The fairways of Galgorm are set to welcome golfing greats once again as Mid and East Antrim Borough Council swings into action in support of the Black Desert NI Legends event.

From 27–31 August 2025, the Borough will play host to a top-flight field of senior golf legends, with the event promising to another stellar occasion in Northern Ireland’s summer sporting calendar.
The Legends Tour event, showcasing some of the game’s most celebrated names aged 50 and over, is expected to draw spectators from across the UK, Ireland and beyond. A trio of Ryder Cup legends – Stephen Gallacher, David Howell and Peter Baker – have now been confirmed, adding further excitement to what is already a world-class field.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Councillor Jackson Minford highlighted Council’s backing for the event and emphasised its importance to the region.
“I am thrilled to once again welcome elite-level golf to Mid and East Antrim. Our Borough has firmly established itself as a leading destination for sporting excellence and the Black Desert NI Legends event will be no exception.
“This is about more than golf – it’s about showcasing all our area has to offer, from our outstanding hospitality and accommodation providers to our vibrant local businesses. The economic benefits, through tourism, visitor spend and international attention, are significant and much welcomed.
“Galgorm continues to play a vital role in Northern Ireland’s golden era of golf and the Black Desert NI Legends event is another milestone in Council’s ongoing commitment to position ourselves firmly on the world stage and deliver lasting benefits for our Borough,” he said.

The tournament week will tee off with a dedicated Celebrity Pro-Am on Wednesday 27 August. While details of the celebrity line-up remain under wraps, fans can expect a host of familiar faces from sport, screen and beyond. The Pro-Am offers a unique chance for spectators and fans to get up close with legends of the game and their celebrity playing partners.
The 54-hole professional tournament will run from Friday 29 August to Sunday 31 August. With previous events at Galgorm including the Irish Open and the World Invitational, this latest addition to the club’s impressive portfolio further cements its reputation as one of Northern Ireland’s premier championship venues.
Off the course, a vibrant Spectator Village will provide a full festival atmosphere for the whole family. Attractions will include interactive zones, golf simulators, artisan food and drink, a themed bar, exhibitor stands and displays from premium brands including Bentley and Galgorm’s own pop-up retail shop. There will also be live entertainment and children’s activities, ensuring an engaging and memorable experience for all attendees.
Tickets for the Black Desert NI Legends event are now on sale, with daily and weekly passes available from just £12.50. Children under 16 go free. On-site parking is available throughout the week.
