Mid and East Antrim Pupils’ Snack Attack Sparks Sweet Success
Friday 21 November 2025
A tasty collaboration between Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and leading healthy snack manufacturer Buchanans has led budding entrepreneurs from Primary 4 and Primary 5 classrooms across Mid and East Antrim to whip up a storm of innovation in the kitchen and the classroom as part of the exciting ‘Snack Attack’ competition.
As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2025, over 200 imaginative entries poured in from local primary schools, showcasing a brand-new healthy snack concept, a vibrant poster design, and a pitch explaining who their snack is for and why it deserves a spot on shop shelves.
The two winning pupils, one from Corran Integrated Primary School, Larne, and one from Carrickfergus Model Primary School, along with their entire classes will now get the chance to meet the maker behind Buchanan’s delicious creations and discover what it takes to run a thriving food business.
It’s a golden opportunity to turn classroom creativity into real-world inspiration.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Jackson Minford, said: “Snack Attack has been a fantastic way to spark entrepreneurial thinking in our young people.
“The energy, imagination and passion shown by these pupils is truly inspiring - and who knows, we may have just seen the next big name in healthy snacking!”
The programme for Global Entrepreneurship Week is designed to promote entrepreneurship, support new start-ups, and inspire innovation across our local business community.
This year’s schedule included expert-led sessions on starting your own business, building visibility across digital platforms, and maintaining physical and mental wellbeing, as well as school specific activities such as the Primary School ‘Snack Attack’ and the launch of the Post-Primary ‘The Future of Our Town’ competitions.
