Location: Lands between Kilroot Power Station (the Power Station) at Carrickfergus and the Belfast Transmission (Gas) Pipeline (BTP) running east/west across the north of Carrickfergus traversing the Townlands of Kilroot Dobbsland Ballyhill and Crossmary

Proposal: Proposed underground gas pipeline development (approx. 3km in length) including above ground installations and associated development. The purpose of the project is to provide a gas supply to the existing distillate fuelled Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) peaking plant at the Kilroot Power Station. The pipeline will be up to 610mm in diameter with a maximum design pressure of up to 85 bar. Two route corridors are proposed but only one will be constructed. Associated development includes above ground installations (Marshallstown AGI and Kilroot AGI), a new vehicular access onto Beltoy Road, the construction of a gas pipe network within Kilroot Power Station, ancillary buildings, temporary construction and storage areas, drainage, landscaping, fencing, pipeline and cathodic protection markers.

In support of the above planning application, Further Environmental Information in the form of an Addendum to the Environmental Statement, a Non-Technical summary of the Addendum and additional drawings have been submitted. The documents and drawings which comprise the Further Environmental Information may be examined at the Mid and East Antrim Planning Office, Silverwood Business Park, 190 Raceview Road, Ballymena BT42 4HZ - Tel: 028 2563 3500 during normal office hours. Due to the Covid-19 crisis, our office is currently closed to the public but the application will be available to inspect upon its re-opening. It would however be advisable to make an appointment before calling at the office.

The Further Environmental Information and the Environmental Statement may also be viewed on the Planning Portal via Public Access.

Copies of the Further Environmental Information are also available for inspection and purchase at the security building at Kilroot Power Station, Larne Road, Eden, Co. Antrim BT38 7LX between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday – Saturday. The cost of a hard copy of the Addendum to the Environmental Statement and its Non-Technical Summary is £125. A digital version that includes the Environmental Statement, its associated Non-Technical summary, the Addendum to the Environmental Statement and the Addendum’s Non-Technical summary is also available to purchase at £20.
