Borough’s businesses cream of the crop at prestigious hospitality awards
Tuesday 5 March 2019
Eight of Mid and East Antrim’s businesses have been named in Hospitality Ulster’s Top 100 Hospitality Business Awards.
The awards recognise Northern Ireland’s ‘best in class’ pubs, bars, restaurants and hotels; which through their premises, staff and product offering encapsulate the very essence of our unique hospitality industry.
The borough’s businesses that made the cut included Galgorm Resort & Spa, Londonderry Arms, Crosskeys Inn, Matties Meeting House, Billy Andy’s, Front Page, Ownies Bar & Restaurant and Ruby’s Bar.
This year’s coveted list was revealed by industry body Hospitality Ulster at a prestigious ceremony in Titanic Belfast.
The event was hosted by acclaimed stand-up comedian Colm O’Regan and attended by a number of VIP guests including former Ireland rugby captain, Brian O’Driscoll and sports pundit, Adrian Logan.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Cllr Lindsay Millar said: “I’m so proud of our borough to have so many well deserving businesses named in this prestigious award ceremony. Hospitality Ulster are the experts so for these businesses to be recognised by industry professionals is testament to the amazing food and hospitality offering we have here right across Mid and East Antrim. Congratulations to all those involved.”
New for 2019, Hospitality Ulster assembled a panel of industry experts to aid them in the search.
Headed up by Northern Ireland food critic, Joris Minne (Belfast Telegraph), the panel included celebrity chef Paula McIntyre, Irish News journalist and food columnist Allison Morris, Ulster Business editor, John Mulgrew and Sunday Life Pub Spy columnist and music journalist Edwin McFee.
Commenting after the ceremony, Mark Stewart Chair of Hospitality Ulster said: “We’re delighted to shine the spotlight on the top hospitality businesses throughout Northern Ireland for a second year.
“The Top 100 Hospitality Businesses are venues that continually go the extra mile to provide first-class hospitality and customer service, from pubs to nightclubs, restaurants to hotels. We have so many businesses at the top of their game here in Northern Ireland and we would like to congratulate all of our winners again on making it to the Top 100.”
