Pop into the ‘Heritage Hub’ this May!

Monday 29 April 2024

Carrickfergus Museum and Carrickfergus & District Historical Society (C&DHS) will be displaying a wide range of fascinating projects they have jointly delivered this May - including an exhibition on old Co. Antrim gaol.

An aerial pic of Carrickfergus from the 1950’s.

The exhibition will be on display at Carrickfergus Heritage Hub (Number 2 Joymount) from 11 May – 1 June.

Drop in for a cup of tea and chat, explore the displays, share your memories of the town and find out more about the area’s unique heritage! You can also take part in an interactive quiz or even a treasure hunt challenge - with a tasty prize draw! Or try your luck at Cattle Battle a new board developed as part of a community engagement project looking at ‘Carrick before the Castle’.

The hub will also act as a meeting point for the upcoming Carrickfergus community dig - providing an exciting opportunity to have a go at being an archaeologist! The Community Archaeology Programme NI (CAPNI) will be in Shaftesbury Park from 20 – 31 May. You can sign-up though the Community Archaeology Programme NI's online form.

Call in any lunchtime and hear a bite-size talk on a local topic - by a range of speakers including museum staff, C&DHS members, archaeologists, and other academics. Talks are free and will take place 12.30 – 1pm. The full programme is available on our What's On section.

The Pop-up shop scheme is a FREE Mid and East Antrim Borough Council initiative to support local groups and is currently in its 6th Year.
