Thursday 15 May 2025

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is delighted to announce the opening of a brand-new play park at Fisherwick, Ballymena.

The new play park was developed following community consultation, which helped shaped this fantastic provision for children of all abilities.

Works carried out by Garden Escapes include senior and junior multi play units, inclusive roundabout, swings, summer seating and an accessible picnic bench.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Alderman William McCaughey, said, “It is fantastic to see the opening of this new play park.

“Council takes the importance of Play seriously and recognises how important it is for the Health and Wellbeing of our children and young people. I believe the opening of this new play park demonstrates Council’s commitment to delivering new quality play provision across the Borough as highlighted in our Play Investment Strategy.

“Establishing better quality play parks is part of our wider ambition to ensure that communities have a real sense of identity and place, and that everyone can enjoy them.

“I hope that this new play park is enjoyed by the children and young people for many years to come.”

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council are committed to providing safe, accessible and inclusive play parks across the Borough with annual investment in play parks in line with the Council’s Out to Play Strategy and Play Investment Framework which is developed in consultation with elected members and information provided from local community.
