Veterans roadshow in Ballymena

Monday 18 September 2023

Mid and East Antrim’s Veterans Champion, Alderman Billy Ashe MBE, is hosting a roadshow for veterans and their families in Ballymena next month.

Alderman Ashe speaking at the Vetern's Roadshow event in Carrickfergus.

The event is the second roadshow to be held in the Borough, a previous event in Carrickfergus Town Hall in February was well attended and brought together a variety of support organisations.

The venue for the 4 October 2023 event will be the Services Club at Trostan Avenue in Ballymena.  The roadshow will start at 7pm that evening, continuing to 9.30pm.

The event is funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust as part of a wider programme to support Veterans' Champions across Northern Ireland - enabling them to reach veterans in the heart of their community.

Alderman Ashe MBE said: “This will be a fantastic opportunity for veterans from all cap badges to come together, share experiences, and access vital resources, whether they have served recently or in years gone by. It will give the opportunity to connect with fellow veterans and families, get insights from veteran support organisations and have the chance to ask questions and seek guidance.”

The MEA Veterans Champion is encouraging veterans to spread the word and bring other fellow veterans along to the roadshow.

Among the stalls booked for the event are Help for Heroes, Defence Gardens Scheme, Forces Employment Charity, Reading Force, NI Veterans Awards and others, while Veterans Commissioner Danny Kinahan is expected to be among those attending.
