PEACEPLUS programme

What is PEACEPLUS?

PEACEPLUS is a new European Union funding programme designed to support peace and prosperity across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland, building upon the work of the previous PEACE and INTERREG Programmes.

The design reflects the importance of peace-building activity, but also the importance of actions that will contribute positively to the economy, building prosperity and adjusting to the new environment and challenges we face.

PEACEPLUS Local Community Action Plan

The Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) has provisionally allocated up to €5,848,008 for Mid and East Antrim to deliver a co-designed local community PEACEPLUS Action Plan under Theme 1 ‘Building Peaceful and Thriving Communities’.

This will be one of 17 Local Action Plans, 11 in Northern Ireland delivered by local Councils and 6 in Ireland delivered by the County Councils.

The local action plan will be centered around three themes:

  • Local community regeneration and transformation
  • Thriving and peaceful communities
  • Building respect for all cultural identities

The Local Action Plan has been developed following extensive consultation and codesign with local communities to ensure priority projects and actions address their needs and issues identified.

We have now submitted the PEACEPLUS Local Action Plan to the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) for approval.

It is anticipated that we should receive a decision by Autumn/Winter 2024 with the launch of the programme taking place in early 2025.

PEACEPLUS Partnership

We have established a new PEACEPLUS Partnership. The partnership is made up as follows:

  • 11 nominated Elected Members
  • 5 nominated Statutory Representatives
  • 7 Social Partners representing the different geographical parts of our area
  • 4 Social Partners representing Section 75 interests or other PEACEPLUS target groups

The PEACEPLUS Partnership are tasked with overseeing the design and implementation of a co-designed Action Plan for the borough of Mid and East Antrim.

PEACEPLUS Social Partner Vacancies

We currently have vacancies for 3 social partners on our PEACEPLUS Partnership.

As a social partner you will play a significant role in the implementation of the co-designed PEACEPLUS Action Plan.

The role is voluntary however, all travel expenses and caring expenses will be available for each member.

The partnership will meet 6-8 times per annum and each meeting would require a time commitment of approximately 2 hours per meeting.

Members may be required to participate in sub-committees and assessment panels.

Meetings will be a mix of virtual and face to face.

Whilst the programme commenced in 2022 and will run to 2027 the commitment will lessen in the latter years as the programme winds down.
