The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) will retain responsibility for deciding regionally significant and called-in applications. It will also set regional planning policy and legislation, provide oversight and guidance, and monitor the performance of councils, providing support where needed. Planning officers from the DfI have transferred to councils and are now council employees.
