Ballygally Beach

Photograph of Ballygally beach during the summer

The village of Ballygally is just 10k north of Larne town. The beach is across the road from the main car park (public toilets are at the other end) and a small Spar store which sells a wide variety of ice creams. Ballygally Castle Hotel is opposite the beach.

The Halfway House Hotel is just 1km further north along the A2. Ballygally Community Hall can be booked for functions and holds a variety of classes such as yoga and painting.

The beach is 300m long and the main access is via a sloped path that ends in a convenient level wooden platform. Only 100m further along, access is also possible via steps and at the other end, via steps from the hotel car park. A viewpoint with seating is located beside the footway close to the main entrance and is wheelchair accessible.

This beach has been awarded the Seaside Award for achieving the required standard of bathing water quality and for its general cleanliness and provision of information and facilities.  Go to the NI Direct website to find the water quality results that this beach has achieved this season.

Please remember to check the weather forecast and sea conditions before visiting beaches.
